The celebration of Obesity in low-cost drawing classes in London
Obesity is considered a terrible chronic disease creating adverse metabolic, biomechanical and psychological health consequences.
Causes of obesity
Frequency of eating
Diseases such as polycystic ovary syndrome, hypothyroidism, insulin resistance.
In the medical world, obesity is considered a serious diseases because associated with poorer mental health conditions and low quality of life.
In the rich countries of the western world, obese people have a wrong diet based on sugar, fat-like low-quality fast food and fizzy drinks
Obesity can increase the risk of diabetes, stroke and heart attack and now of covid.
United kingdom and its obesity
In England where I have lived since 2011 the number of obese people, in particular women, has increased in the last years.
The diet in Uk is not great. When I was working in a famous fast-food restaurant in the capital, I could see people coming to buy their favourite food twice or sometimes three times a day, included young students.
Bacon, tons of fizzy drinks, fries, fish and chips, jack potatoes filled with everything is fat, fried eggs, butter are in the fridge of the standard English people.
In Italy, my home country, for example, people use lots of pasta, pizza, olive oil, fruit and vegetables in their diet.
But in England, people eat usually buttered garlic bread with pasta, or pizza with fried fries, adding on top of it sauces like mayonnaise, ketchup, barbeque sauce.
Moreover, people like driving their cars or working all the time in front of their desk and their movement is decreased year after year.
The bad weather discourage often people to go out for a walk and this does not help against obesity.
Practically I discovered that in many places I was one of the thinners and many young girls were very obese even if they were wearing outfits surely 2 times smaller than their real measures.
In the world of art and fashion, Anorexia has been condemned
I am a model since 2012 and I have noticed that in the last 9 years many campaigns have been done to condemn anorexia.
Nobody is happy to see an underweight woman anymore.
Anorexia kills or can create mental problems and ruin lives as obesity.
Lots of campaigns against anorexia, but nothing to condemn obesity in the fashion world and in the low-cost drawing classes in London for example.
Still now , you can see happy obese models going around saying fat is beautiful and they are feeling sexy and amazing thanks to that.
This is wrong!
These women are encouraged to eat tons of wrong food to maintain the kilos that probably will kill them when still young.
When I was working as a life model in London, a few times I have modelled next to obese women. I was feeling very uncomfortable next to their massive body.
I could feel them breathing heavily and complaining about their fatigue every time had to change a pose.
But the artists and in particular the tutors who booked them made feel them like superstars of the evening and of the world.
‘Fat is beautiful and your curves are fantastic for our painting and drawings’ were saying to the poor girl
I still remember one evening an artist brought a cake to share during the class and the obese model ate 3 slices saying she had to maintain her weight.
Nobody told her that was wrong and against her health.
I tried to advise tutors to stop in their celebration of obesity for these girls who were paid under the minimum wage just for their hobby but they did not listen to me.
Still remember a manager of an academy in Hamleys told me she would have reported my words to their community because I was wrong.
Wrong in what?
Still now London is really the wrongest place to be healthy
Traffic, stress, bad diet, anxiety, pollution, lack of movement kill thousands of people every year
